Product Categories
The Product Categories tool uses AI to automatically assign the correct categories to your products. Based on the existing product information and the categories already present in your online store, the AI determines which categories best fit a product.
Please note: This tool only assigns existing categories and does not create new categories itself.
How does assigning categories work?
Open the tool via Products and click 'Categories' next to the desired product.
A screen will now open showing Possible categories: an overview of all categories currently available in your online store. Below that, you configure the Assignment behavior:
- Add selected assignments: The categories suggested by AI are added to the product's already existing categories.
- Replace assignments within selection: The categories suggested by AI replace the existing assignments within the shown selection.
You can also provide Custom rules (optional) to give the AI further instructions.
Next, click 'Generate assignments'. The AI tool analyzes the product and suggests the most suitable categories. Review the proposal and confirm to assign the categories to the product.
Assigning categories in bulk
Do you want to assign categories for a large number of products at once? Use the bulk function for this.
Please note: Bulk functionality depends on your subscription type. You need at least a Growth plan.
Use the search function on the products page to select the desired products and start the bulk task. Just like with the other AI tools, a test is first run on 1 product, so you can check the settings before the full batch is processed.
