Language Selector

The Language and Country Selector is an essential component for webshops that sell internationally. This section appears as an 'offcanvas' menu (a panel that slides into the screen from the side) and allows customers to customize the shopping experience to their own location and language.

Because this section is part of the Overlay group, it is always available when a visitor clicks on the language or country settings (usually found in the header or footer).

General Settings​

Given the functional nature of this selector, the settings are compact and focused on seamless integration:

  • Color scheme: Determine the color scheme for the side panel. You can match this with your header or use a contrasting color for extra clarity.
  • Custom Class: For advanced styling options by developers.

Functionalities​

The selector is automatically populated based on the settings in your Shopify Admin (under 'Settings' > 'Markets' and 'Languages'):

  • Country/Region selection: Customers can choose their country. The corresponding currency and currency symbol are immediately displayed (e.g., Euro € or US Dollar $).
  • Language choice: Visitors can switch between the languages you have published for your webshop. Languages are shown in their native names (e.g., English, Nederlands, Français) so they are instantly recognizable.

Tip: Ensure that you have correctly configured the country and language settings in your Shopify admin environment; this panel relies entirely on those settings.
